Renegade club DJs looking for a fresh sound have created live grooves on the fly, using Mixman's popular remixing software. With the release of Mixman StudioPro 4.0, packed with production tools for creating professional-quality grooves, don't be surprised if you see more laptops in your favorite club's DJ booth. This installation in the Mixman series isn't just for the pros, though. With its slick, simple interface and brilliant documentation, any amateur mixmaster with a fairly fast computer and an ounce of creativity can easily create unique sound sculptures.
Mixman StudioPro 4.0 consists of four modules in a virtual music-production studio. Pop into the recording studio to record live sounds (microphone not included), or sample existing sound bites, then move over to the editing room to refine the clips into a smooth, endless loop. A generous library of sound samples--drums, bass, synthesizer samples, guitar riffs, and more--is included in the package. With the sonic ingredients in hand, hop over to the remixing studio to cook up a tune. Load up to 16 tracks into the interface (resembling a dual turntable setup, each supporting eight tracks), with each track having a corresponding key. Then, punch tracks into the mix, cross-fade, shift tempo and pitch, and apply effects with simple keyboard commands or mouse clicks. The pre-existing samples are time-coded, synching perfectly with the other tracks in the mix. It's as simple as that. Only moments after firing up the program, layers of snazzy percussion, chest-thumping bass, and exotic sounds are unleashed on the ears of happy dancing people (or, at the very least, your confused dog).
Those without a live audience can kick out the jams to the world online, thanks to Mixman's brilliant Web community. Store your mixes on a customized Web page in the Mixzone where others can download and remix your mixes into unique interpretations. Mixman Radio is the place to broadcast your creations to open ears across the Web. The site's integration of MP3 technology for sound-file swapping opens an entire new realm of sampling and collaborating possibilities.

huh..... well......... it's not a bad thing to play around
it's a really cool thing for non musical person but....... to me....... i bought it .... but it's totally a toy
the sound quality, not yet CD quality,the control not accuarte and not stable......... that is to me as a persion who start producing some music for 1 year, and using some real gears..... this thing fun to play, just for fun!yet is you are professional DJ, go for..., not this unstable baby.

I was impressed with the product years ago (2000). I have no professional music background but it seemed to be a good place to start. I thought it would a cool tool to use to create WEB site sound bites. Then it seems the company fell apart. Customer support became non-existent.
The products ran fine under Windows 98 but crashed under Windows XP. I expected an update patch to fix this problem, it never appeared. One of the biggest problems became apparent if you had to re-install the software. After you entered the product KEY the install program had to go to the WEB site to validate the key. When they dropped their product support they seemed to eliminate the KEY validation and the software failed to re-install. So like a lot of people I have $100.00 of worthless software/hardware.
It was a shame because this little product line had potential. It would be nice if they would make some patches so we could still use this software.
Bottom line, with out support, KEY issues when re-installing and NO replies too many e-mails buy another product.

Like the other reviewer from DeSoto, Texas said below, I too am experiencing crashes on a very robust installation of Windows XP. I am a hardware/software technician with over 10 years of field experience and I have a degree in Recording Engineering, yet, I cannot get this product to run on my system. I also have their DM2 mixer and used previous versions of their software on Win98 with no problems. I am hesitant to try their newer StudioXPro product fearing that it too will crash upon launch.They really do have extremely poor support. They did NOT respond to any of my SEVEN e-mails regarding this problem. The only way to contact them is via e-mail. I even considered knocking on their doors when I last visited San Francisco, but their website only shows a PO BOX!
Until they get their act together, avoid MixMan. It's too bad too because they have a promising product line. They just don't know how to run a software company.
